Friday, 5. February 2010

The online poker site and Cake Poker Network member, Only Poker, is considering signing the former five time NBA champion Dennis Rodman to a sponsorship deal. Rumours circling around the industry suggest that the site will most likely sign the former NBA star within the next two weeks.

Whether Only Poker signs Rodman remains to be seen, but the fact remains that Only Poker has been ramping up their efforts to become one of the players in online poker industry. Other sites on the Cake Poker Network include, Cake Poker, DoylesRoom and Poker Host.

After playing with the Detroit Pistons, San Antonio Spurs and the Chicago Bulls; Dennis Rodman has walked away from the NBA with 5 NBA Championship rings from the 1989, 1990, 1996, 1997, and 1998 seasons and was a member of the All Star Team in 1990 and 1992. . Rodman led the NBA in rebounds per game for close to a decade and still stands as one of the sports world’s most recognized faces.

Rodman appeared alongside poker pro Annie Duke in last year’s Celebrity Apprentice on NBC. He lasted 5 weeks, until he was confronted in the boardroom by other cast members about his drinking and of course fired by Donald Trump.

Rodman has been tied to a number of very high profile women including Modonna and Carmen Electra and he is currently a member of the cast of the third season of Celebrity Rehab. Celebrity Rehab features Dr. Drew Pinsky of MTV’s Loveline who counsels Rodman as well as his other housemates, Heidi Fleis, Mindy McCready, Lisa D’Amato, Joey Kovar, Mackenzie Phillps, Kari Ann Peniche, Mike Star and Tim Sizemore with their sex addictions.

It would appear that the Cake Poker Network will soon see two of their members, PlayersOnly Poker and Sportsbook Poker, head to their rival Merge Gaming Network sometime in mid-April. According to PokerScout, the Cake Poker Network currently ranks as the ninth largest online poker destination in the world.

If things don’t work out with Rodman, Only Poker has their choice from a wide selection of other sports stars including Kenny Smith, Jose Conseco and Joe Montana.
