Carlos Mortensen Makes His Return To Full Tilt Poker
Friday, 12. February 2010

It was rumored that Carlos “The Matador” Mortensen was making his return to Full Tilt Poker and it would appear, despite the absence of any official announcement, that he is now the newest “old” member of Team Full Tilt.

While Mortensen was one of the more prominent members of Team Full Tilt in the past; lately, he has not been tied to any particular online poker room. Mortensen has been recently spotted playing Mixed games on Full Tilt with his name highlighted in red signifying his membership in Team Full Tilt.

Mortensen has been keeping a fairly low profile of late, neither participating very much in online games nor in live tournaments. Since his big victory in the $25,000 World Poker Tour (WPT) Championship in 2007, he has only had a dozen cashes, half of which were in the last two World Series of Poker (WSOP) events.

Carlos Mortensen is actually a nom de guerre (de poker), his real name is Juan Carlos. Mortensen is the only player to have claimed victory in both the WSOP and WPT Championship. Mortensen has two WSOP bracelets and two WPT titles and boasts an incredible $8,894,713 in career live tournament winnings; ranking him 13th on the all time money list.

Mortensen was born to a Danish father and a Spanish mother in Ecuador and moved to Spain when he was 15 years old. His first exposure to the world of poker was in 1997 when he lost $100 in a game amongst friends. The loss frustrated him greatly and inspired him to improve and the rest is poker history.
