Award Winning Poker Rooms:
What Are Online Poker Tournament Fees?
Monday, 10. May 2010
Whenever players play in a real money online tournament, whether it be Sit & Go or multi table tournament, a service fee is included in the buy in. In the example of a multi table tournament with a $100+$6 buy in, $100 of the buy in goes towards the prize pool and $6 is the service fee taken by the online poker room. This service free is simply known as the tournament fee.
Unlike rake, where online poker rooms will limit the amount of rake that they may take from a particular pot to a maximum amount. The tournament fee has no maximum in the sense that it will always be anywhere from 6% - 10% of the buy in amount of the tournament irrespective of the size of the buy in.
