How To Play Canadian Stud Or Scandinavian Stud
Wednesday, 28. April 2010
Canadian Stud, also known as Scandinavian Stud, is considered a variant of 5 Card Stud but it is simply 5 Card Stud with the addition of a couple of hands to the hand rankings. Since many of the higher ranked hands, like flushes and straights, are rarely hit in a game of 5 Card Stud; four card straights and four card flushes were added into the mix and Canadian Stud was born.
Following are the hand rankings in Canadian Stud from the highest, the Royal Flush, to the lowest:
1. Royal Flush
2. Straight Flush
3. Four of a Kind
4. Full House
5. Flush
6. Straight
7. Three of a Kind
8. Two Pair
9. Four Card Flush
10. Four Card Straight
11. Pair
12. High Card
Aside from the addition of four card flushes and straights to the hand rankings, Canadian Stud plays out exactly like 5 Card Stud in every way from the posting of antes to the River. See our How To Play 5 Card Stud article for information regarding how to play 5 Card Stud.
